One Year Natural

One year natural,yay!

Whoo!
I've done all kinds of victory dances(yes, including azonto).
So with celebrations aside, these are the things I've learned on my one year journey.

1.My hair needs A LOT of moisture. My hair can't get enough if it and I found that  with the right products and regimen,I can keep it moisturized for longer.
Make that combination if the right products. Lol

2.Making my own products is waaaay cheaper(and sometimes more effective) than store bought products.

3.Still on products, sometimes a little does go a long way and also dime sized is not so dime sized. LOL
And what works for someone with hair exactly like yours MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU!(who knew😩)

4.It's okay to admire someone else's curls but your hair may NEVER be like that!

5.Taking better care of my hair helped me take better care of my body.

And finally,

6.Don't get too hung up on length. If you care for it properly,it will grow.

Products I've used and love so far;
.Anything ORS(Organic Roots Stimulator)
.Aunt Jackie's(OMG! I love it)
.My homemade whipped Shea butter
.Coconut oil (lots of it!)
.African black soap
.Water(On my hair and drinking lots of it)

I'm still learning things about my hair because I've found that the longer it grows,my curl pattern changes.

So with all that being said(whew😅),I'm off to do more celebrating! Ciao

My Natural in Portharcourt

Yay! The reception of natural hair in Portharcourt is improving. And I am so proud of my friends who have decided to go natural because of me.
The Brazilian/Peruvian weave movement is still going strong,so I know the natural hair community in Portharcourt still has a ways to go but…thank God for small victories.
I think as people see how good my hair looks now that it's growing, they don't have the inhibitions they had at the beginning. And I'm not shy in telling them that keeping your natural hair is serious work.
I'm happy though,with how far I've come.
It's not even a year yet and my hair is doing so good health and length wise.
I'm satisfied.

Gel-less puff

Just got tired of slapping on gel,so I tried to do a puff without the gel. I love it!

Frotastic!

So I had one experience with straightening my hair and I felt weird and I didn't like it. So,I'm not going back there.
That being said,I love my fros!
Wether they be twist outs, braid outs or just a regular fro,the bigger it gets, the more I fall in love with it!
I didn't see myself as a fro lover,I thought my natural hair would always be in some sort of style.
It's been a frotastic experience and I'm loving it!

Long Time…I Know!!!!!

Soooooo,no length checks but this is what my 8 months I being natural looks like:

Length check

Four month growth,na so!

Growth

Ok,as much as I'm stoked that my hair is growing at the rate it is,I would really like to state that ; IF YOU LEAVE IT ALONE,IT WILL GROW!
(Sorry for screaming,lol)
Let me explain,
Too much of ANYTHING is bad and never yields good results.
I do have a regimen(finally) after months of trial and error and finding out what works and how to tweak what doesn't.
I do take tips from all my natural hair big sisters but I put my own twist on it and its working. And I have learned that monitoring my growth will not make my hair grow,it'll only breed frustration.
Since I realized this, this journey has been going a lot more easy.
I decided to love and embrace every stage of my length journey. As someone said,"It's a journey not a competition.
That said,happy growing!

Braid outs

Hi there.
So I'm at this awkward stage of my twa(teenyweenyafro) and my dears,it's not easy. It's bordering in frustration for me and sometimes,I want to shave my head(hubby will kill me) but I'm motivated by others' journeys so I'm not giving up yet.
Incidentally, I found what works for me at this awkward stage and it is braid outs.
It's faster for me to braid up my hair at night than any other style.
Recently,I had a friend of mine do full cornrows that lasted me a week and I took them out at the weekend and rocked it. It was beautiful and stretched my hair beautifully!
So,for now,my go to style is braid outs till I gain some more length. Ciao

On Length Checks

So,I have decided on doing less length checks because it kind of takes away the fun from the journey and it really isn't necessary to do regular length checks because I know my hair is growing.
I also want to just concentrate on the health o my hair more and how it reacts to different products or recipes. Ciao!
